Today’s my birthday. And I think you should probably wish me?

Rest assured those are the things I’ll be saying a lot tomorrow. And ofcourse it’ll be lovely to hear ppl wishing me. According to me, your birthday is the one day where you get to play the celebrity. Except those who are already a full time celebrity! Right so, ppl have been asking me “wtf do I get you for your b’day”.  To make the task of all those ppl easier, I present to you my LIST. Now my LIST is definitely not a birthday wishlist even though the title might make you think so. It is just a LIST of things that I need at this point of time. And it’s c-e-r-t-a-i-n-l-y-n-o-t-e-x-h-a-u-s-t-i-v-e. 

• 12-month subscription of a mag such as The Week/Reader’s Digest
• A 2GB SD Card for my phone
• Completely explain to me the TCP/IP protocol stack(and implementation)
• A small bedside alarm clock with light to see the time @ night
• Let me drive your car

Hey ppl,

This blog post is entirely about my friend Nikhil.

Ahhh. Now there he is! You see, a great tragedy occurred to him on 3oth September/October/November 2008. I honestly don’t know which day it was, but it was Nikhil’s birthday. Well, he did ask for a pen drive as his b’day gift. And it turned out we gave him a “pen + drive”. ( Pen + Drive = A big mokka to remind him never to ask for his birthday gift himself unless asked ) And he got a bit sad due to that and been sad ever since. 

But he’s been good to me and to a lot of you guys I believe. So I feel its only deserving that we all put together a small amount and get him a pen drive. So if you are willing to contribute(or not) just add a comment with your name You’ll be contacted

Billa… Billa… Billa…

Before i start it off i gotta say im neither an Ajith fan nor a Vijay fan! Infact the only actor who comes close to making me a fan is Will Smith so i guess you can get a fair idea of who’s writing this blog. I could say in one word that the movie is crap but it isn’t. It was let’s say “an ok one.” It was certainly better than the recent films Ajith has dished out(Jana, Attagasam, Paramasivam and the lot) But the one thing which struck me once i saw the film was that just like Vijay in ATM he has missed out a great opportunity. An opportunity to make a real mark. Unfortunately the new Billa is no more or less than the original. Infact its exactly the same dish served in a different plate.

Ajith looks good in the movie. He really looks damn stylish and makes good use of his looks too. Some of his scenes as Billa were awesome just for the visual impact and style it had on the viewers. But it’s maybe the fault of the director that these are not properly integrated into a flowing storyline. The introduction of the “innocent Ajith” (Velu) is predictable as it is taken from the old Billa. But it’s a fact that Rajni’s acting was exemplary in differentiating the two roles he played in that film. But the second Ajith’s intro and the song lacks such vibrance and character. When i watched i felt it was Billa who was dancing. His movements were as usual slow and not in tune with the folk music. And he could have changed his voice a little to suit the role better.

The film takes a predictable course after that as the old Billa including some scenes where the director Vishnu Vardhan misses many opportunities to make his creative dent on the film. Nayantara is absolutely eye blowing and u can probably watch the entire film just for her! Awesome acting + glamour. She’s really on her way to the top. ( A vivid description of those scenes may be indecent for the blog but are certainly allowed in comments!) Namitha just floats around the film doing nothing much except highlight Nayan.

With almost all the characters taking on the exact roles(and even names) of those who acted in Rajni’s Billa there’s not much suspense in the film and it turns to be predictable ending. If there’s one thing that the film has done it is to showcase the earlier Billa in an improved version for the new generation. But certainly it could have been done with a bit of creativity and twist thrown into the script.

HIGH and LOWS

*** the best scene of the film is probably when Namitha dies. Ajith(Velu) after accidentally shooting her is nearly caught out by Bill’a gang-mates but brilliantly retrieves the situation by striking an awesome Billa pose. Classic.

*** After Nayantara vouches to bring Billa back from police custody all by herself she does absolutely nothing in the ensuing shoot-out in the road except making a sexy walk up a car. Tomb Raider style! Appealing but not effective

*** The scene where Billa meets DSP Prabhu in a bathroom. Ajith really shows signs of acting the Velu character to perfection but he could have done it in a few more scenes as well

Night Out- Besant Nagar beach

I know its been a while since i blogged. Been busy making the most of my holidays! They were fun but then they are over now Thats life isnt it? Nothing lasts forever. They all have to end sometime just like how every sentence ends with a period. For the whole of holidays i have done absolutely nothing. But i did plan a lot though. Whenever do my plans good. **sighs** But i did do a few interesting things. Like going to watch Diya(man thats was ooooohhh) and going to mcc (aaaaah). But then a great night out in Besant Nagar beach. Nothing ever beats roaming around Chennai at 1 o clock in the night in ur bike. There’s almost a heavenly feel to it. You feel like u and ur frends are the only ppl in the earth. Its an amazing feeling. Man i promise thats not the last time im going out at night. But Chennai is a bit of turn-off for those things.

While we were coming back, there was nothing open. Well Mocha was open but they won’t let us in so late since it was near closing time. Whew what a shame to a city which is becoming modern by the day. Maybe it is just that me n my buddies(Dilip, Nikhil and Sethu aren’t the kinda guys who spend every night out… Just like me!) dint know where to go. Frankly i badly wanted to go to a pub and watch the match between Liverpool vs Marseille but it seems there’s a rule against that too. No pubs or anything open after midnight. What the hell! We are not doing anything illegal are we?? We are just going to places where people go everyday. only we are roaming around at night. Ok i guess there are some law and order issues but surely the police can handle it with certain specific rules instead of closing down everthing. It’s an absolute shame for the city. Maybe it should be something like no alcohol after midnight. That kinda thing which allows people to enjoy themselves and allows the police to monitor things easily. We actually started back at about 1 am and if we had started about an hour later it seems we would have been stopped and questioned at every road and corner! Just the usual “who are you?” questions and “be-a-good-boy-and-don’t-waste-time” advices. We already know that and we were not wasting our time. Its holidays! But i gotta admit there was a pretty high police presence everywhere. Looks like they are taking good care of our city. And i dint see anyone sleeping either.

But for anyone who hasn’t tried it its one of the best things to do. Start at around 9pm. Get a bike or car(surely you are not looking for those MTC buses at midnight!) If u want get some eatables and hit the beach. Why the beach? Because its quiet and you can just walk around and have a peaceful time. Even if its not the beach you can just roam around the city – no traffic no hassles and u got the cool air. Trust me u’l feel like God. Wow! Besant Nagar beach is probably one of the places in the city where shops are open till about 12 or 1 am. There’s Barista, Coffee Day, A burger shop and the local fish fry shop if you are not too concerned about the hygiene thingy. Yoohoo lets get started!

P.S. : There’s one thing about going to the beach at night. But telling your parents that you are going to the night show movie and not going anywhere near the theatre is a totally different proposition altogether!

[SEM PREP DIARY] Day (minus)2

Hi all

U’l probably be wondering what the minus 2 thingy at the top. If u r not then start wondering now! Its just to show that my exam starts in 2 days. Yeah i know i look like a piece of shit blogging in a (minus) 2 state. But then thats wats happened today. I thought or rather dreamed of finishing “almost” everything today… ended up finishing “almost nothing”… Well most of u guys know what im talking about… Here are some of the states in which i was in today

1.Having a book in hand
2. Doing nothing with it
3.Sleeping on top of the book
4.Reading the same line a hundred times not realizing what it meant
5.Gazing at the different objects in my room
6.Dancing with my dream girl… (wow i loved that dream i got this afternoon!)
7.Looking stupidly at people chasing a round white ball in a cricket ground (India won though! Hurrrrayyy!)
8.Finally getting a few things into my brain

I know what u r gonna say. “Go and study kiddo” I assure u i will coz i gotta whole-night-study-without-sleep-and-fun session tonight in sethu’s house. Dont u start laughing out there coz this is crucial. Tonight will decide my fate of whther i’l pass or not. And i resolve 2…wel… pass! yeah.. Btw what the heck are you doing reading my blog huh? Im sure most of u reading it have exams of ur own Or atleast u’l have something useful to do than this.. lol… But ofcourse i know y u r reading it. Coz u and me are sailing in the same boat(we shall do nothing and we shall have as much fun as we can!) Welcome aboard sailor!

P.S. Forgot to mention. I was chased by 2 g**ls today when i just went to have a quiet snack at ganga sweets. They followed me all the way there. Infact one of them got so desperate that she ordered the same thing which i did. Wonder where all this is leading to!

[SEM PREP DIARY] Day -3

So this was the day of reckoning. The day i told myself i wud start studying for the first exam(communication theory and systems… has absolutely nothing to do with blogs as a means of communication) As i was finally facing upto the reality the clock just ticked over 12pm making me realize how late i had gotten up(no big deal… i get up same time everyday :-p ) There i was willing myself to study with no book what so ever to study from!! So it forced me into the illegal act photocopying a text book. (As if noone does that! booo…hoo…) And avoiding all forms of distraction ranging from my frend niki wanting to meet daddy to roadside girls throwing awkward glances(!!) at me One girl in particular seemed extremely mischievous! not my fault though!! ) i finally got some reading material in my hands.. yuppeeee… And i literally tried to put my nose through that paper only succeeding in sleepin with my face flat on it. I did do a decent bit of studying though… a few pages lets say… And here i am blogging. Man what the heck am i doing when im supposed to be studying. Shit i gotta go! tata….
